The claim is the Authority’s own, in its published FAQs, and it is unusually specific for a utility. The plants run reverse osmosis on seawater and take out 99.5% of the dissolved salts. The finished water is held to a standard the Authority describes as higher than the World Health Organisation guideline for drinking water quality. Testing is not a one-off certificate either: 21 sample taps sit across the Grand Cayman network, and they are checked on schedules ranging from daily to every four to five weeks.

The three things added to it

Three additives go in, all NSF-approved:

Chlorine for disinfection.
Sodium hydroxide to adjust pH.
Zinc orthophosphate for corrosion control in the pipes.

Whether the supply is fluoridated, I cannot tell you. The Authority’s page does not say, and I am not filling the gap from memory.

The Authority is describing water it produces and pipes. If the villa or the condo you are staying in draws from a private cistern or a well instead of the mains, the statement above is not about that water, and I have nothing sourced to put in its place.
